Supplemental Intervention vs. Replacement Intervention


    Supplemental Intervention: Students are referred for small group instruction with the reading specialist to target deficits in the area of phonological awareness and fluency for 40 minutes 2 to 4 times/week for six weeks.  Students will not be missing any reading, writing or math instruction. The reading specialist will implement Structured Literacy instruction.


    Replacement Intervention:  Students who are not responding to supplemental intervention may be referred for more intensive intervention using the Wilson Reading System.  The Wilson Reading System is a replacement program. Students receiving the Wilson Reading System will not will receive the Fundations or Words their Way program.
