Degrees and Certifications:
I began my educational career at the University of Scranton where I graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Special Education. I then earned my Master of Science degree in Reading Education in 2011. I obtained my Wilson Level I Dyslexia Practitioner certification in 2013.
I taught first grade and special education in grades 3-5 in the Chicago Public Schools. I was also a reading specialist and literacy coach in the Dallas Public Schools.
Reading is unique in that it is a necessary life skill but can also be a joyous activity. My goal is to help students become better readers. I utilize an evidenced-based type of instruction called Structured Literacy, that emphasizes the structure of language and includes the following components: phonology, orthography, morphology, syntax, and semantics. This type of instruction is explicit, systematic, cumulative and diagnostic.
I look forward to working with you and your children. Please do not hesitate to contact me. My email is email@example.com.
