Teaching is a work of the heart.

I grew up in a small town called Dunmore, which is located outside of Scranton, Pennsylvania. Due to my passion for teaching and love for working with children, I majored in both Elementary and Early Childhood Education at the University of Scranton.  During college, I also chose to be involved with children in a variety of settings.  My experiences allowed me to interact with young children and learn many effective teaching methods.  In May 2004, I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Scranton.  After college, I moved to New Jersey to begin teaching in Hillsdale.  In May 2010, I completed my master’s degree in School Counseling at Montclair State University, which has enhanced my skills in reaching the academic, social and emotional aspects of each student. My family still resides in Pennsylvania, where my sisters Maria and Jennifer are teachers as well.

For the past nine years, I have enjoyed teaching within the Hillsdale School District.  I am very happy to be teaching first grade again this year!  First grade is a very special year for children.  It is a time to experience important transitions and acquire new skills.  During the school year, my students will learn how to read, write stories, add, subtract, and so much more.  Within a warm, loving, and safe environment, my goal is to instill a love of learning that will last throughout my students’ years of schooling.
