The start of school is an exciting time in a young person's life. It is a time for learning, growing, making friends, and a lot of fun, too! Our days are filled with stories, phonics, numbers, writing, and many other activities and memories. What a pleasure it will be to have your child in my classroom.
I have an exciting year planned full of opportunities for learning and growing. Your child will be studying about many aspects of life including; self, home, family, and community throughout the year, in addition to the standard Core Curriculum.
Behavior: With regard to behavior, your child is expected to act in a manner that will ensure safety and consideration for the feelings of others.
Arrival/Dismissal: Prior to entering the building at 8:50, students will wait in a line by the playground. This is a perfect place to say goodbyes for the day. As a class, we will enter the building in a quite, respectful manner. On inclement weather days the children may enter the building and line-up in the All Purpose Room. At 3:10, students can be picked up around the school at the door facing the woods.
Folders: These folders go home every day. Please be sure to empty your child's folder each evening and send it back to school the next day. In the morning, the folders will be checked for any notes to the teacher. Your child’s weekly work and important school wide information will be sent home in this Folder.Volunteers: There will be many opportunities to volunteer inside and outside the classroom. Volunteering is essential in providing the best opportunity for your child’s education. Keep an eye out for specific information about volunteering.Snack: Please send your child with a daily snack and drink. Water bottles are highly recommended. Please pack the snack in a seperate bag with their name on it.Communication: Thankfully, first grade has a high Parent/Guardian to Teacher interaction. A simple note in your child’s folder is also an effective way. The best way is email. My email address is: firstname.lastname@example.org. Please send me an email! You can also call the school and leave a message. I will get back to you as soon as possible.
