What is speech therapy?
Most people think of speech therapy as a way to fix a lisp or help for a stutter. While it is true that speech therapy does treat articulation or speech sound production disorders and help someone who stutters develop fluent speech, speech therapy also has helped many children achieve many other goals.
Speech therapists assist children who struggle with producing sounds clearly, speaking fluently, improving their voice quality, and/or developing language skills.
In school speech therapy is designed to help children who have a communication difficulty that is impacting their educational performance. If you are concerned about your child's communication skills please discuss your concerns with your child's teacher and find out if their teacher is noticing any communication difficulties in class
